Rhone 2010 Berrys' Best Buys - Best Value RedsOrganically managed, this is a traditional red Rh?ne blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and a touch of Cinsault.
Delicious black fruit, spice, and earthy notes combine to produce a very enticing glass of wine, which is an absolute steal at this
price.
(Sara Guiducci, BBR Fine Wine)
A Grenache Syrah Mourvedre blend, that is to say one made up of pretty much equal parts of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre;
piercing aromatics of violets and dark fruit, then black fruit, crushed rock and hedgerow flavours, firm acidity and silky tannins.
The elegance comes from the altitude of the vines; the Syrah lends an almost Northern Rh?ne character, unsurprising, in a sense,
as Vinsobres is located at the northerly end of the south as it were!
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012)
The elevation to Cru status of the appropriately lofty vineyards of Vinsobres came in recognition of the quality of its soils and
the distinctive elegance of its wines. Philippe is both a vigneron of merit and a highl-respected rugby union coach. It must
therefore be a source of great pride that one of his sons, Thibaud, is now showing great skill in the winery whilst the other,
Rafael has just won a place in the Clermont Ferrand First Fifteen. The wines are even more impressive than usual, possibly
because the Domaine is about to be accorded full biodynamic certification...

Rhone 2010 Berrys' Best Buys - Best Value Reds
The energetic Emmanuel Darnaud has (yet again!) brought together the essence of Crozes-Hermitage with the complex
influences of three sizes of barrel to produce a marvellous wine which delights the senses in every way.
(Gary Owen, BBR Fine Wine)
The name of the cuvée refers to the fact that the fruits of the different vineyards are matured differently; in 2010 50% was in
new or 1 year-old barrel, 30% in tronconique and the balance in older barrique. The assemblage has an attractive nose
dominated by tapenade, wood-smoke and blackberry fruit; on the palate there are additional notes of pepper and spice. The
sweetness of the fruit is thus nicely complemented and the ensemble is harmonious.
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012)
There is a definite ‘pecking-order’ amongst the growers of the relatively homogenised appellation of Crozes-Hermitage,
which often remains relatively unchanged over generations. One name to emerge over the last five years, however, is that
Emmanuel Darnaud, who by a combination of skilful acquisition, a judicious marriage and, it seems, non-stop talking, has now
joined the first rank. His boundless enthusiasm led him down a few futile wine-making roads in the early days, but now
everything has settled down and the results are impressive indeed.

Rhone 2010 Berrys' Best Buys - Star Performers in Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Roger Sabon always produces Chateauneufdu- Pape on the more elegant side and in 2010 he has combined this elegance with
verve, vibrancy and focus. Beneath this is a depth and complexity of fruit which combines beautifully to produce a true vin de
garde.
(Gary Owen, BBR Fine Wine)
An embarrassment of cépages here; cast in order of appearance is Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Counoise and Vaccarese. Aged
in a combination of new and older foudre, this is a dense and exceptionally powerful wine, with something of 2005 in its tannic
structure, but a fruit profile which is more closely reminiscent of 2007. Blackberry confit, bacon rind and forest floor...it sounds
like an odd combination, but it certainly works!
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012)
Didier Negron is the son-in-law of Jean-Jacques Sabon, who tragically died at the end of 2011 after a long illness. Didier is
now the chief winemaker at this increasingly impressive property.. He certainly talks the talk, fluently in English as we found
out latterly, but to no great surprise, given his ability elsewhere. Owning 15 parcels across 17 hectares over the appellation,
Domaine Sabon produce four cuvées of red, the most famous of which is seen as one of the very best wines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The secret is out!

Rhone 2010 Berrys' Best Buys - The Angels of the North
This wine offers outstanding value from the Northern Rh?ne-an area which excelled in 2010. Beautifully pitched; the fruit is
generous and bright, there’s plenty of texture and depth to the palate, but also a silky elegance throughout.
(Martyn Rolph, BBR Fine Wine)
Rich, fleshy but with very refined and supple tannins. Only 5% of new oak is employed but the wine is polished and dense with
damson and morello cherry vying for attention.
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012)
Jér?me Coursodon’s reputation continues to soar. Ideally placed vineyards and a perspective which inclines towards
perfectionism have both helped him on his way. Add to that the extraordinary natural benevolence of the vintage, and his
legacy seems secure. It is fantastic to see such a famous old estate performing so well.
