““德利卡之夜”加州精品葡萄酒会 "Nights of Delicato" Wine tasting”——Wong Jun Tim简介

Wong Jun Tim was born in Shek Moon village, Guangdong Province, where his family owned a small lychee orchard.  At a young age, Jun Tim emigrated to the United States and was raised in Northern California.

Jun Tim attended the prestigious viticultural and winemaking institution, UC Davis, where he earned a degree in Chemistry with a minor in Oenology.  Jun Tim studied under Professor Emeritus Maynard Amerine, whose research on grape growing and winemaking helped to transform the California wine industry after Prohibition.  In fact, Dr Amerine’s work is considered by many to be the cornerstone of California’s success in the world wine community.

After graduation from Davis, Jun Tim spent several years making wine at small winery in the Lodi, California region.  He then moved onto positions at larger wineries including Guild and Constellation before joining Delicato Family Vineyards in 1996. A dedicated family man, Jun Tim was especially attracted to the family ownership and heritage of Delicato Family Vineyards.  Founded in 1924, Delicato Family Vineyards has 85 years of experience in California winemaking and winegrowing and is currently led by third generation family members.

Under Jun Tim’s leadership, winemaking at Delicato Family Vineyards has evolved from one brand, Delicato, to crafting several super and ultra premium brands such as Gnarly Head, Irony, 337, Fog Head, Brazin and Loredona.  Today, Delicato Family Vineyards is the fifth largest California wine producer and the fourth largest exporter of California wine.

When Jun Tim has time out of the cellar, he enjoys spending time with his family – his wife of 32 years and his son and daughter.  He also enjoys the great outdoors whether in his own yard gardening or camping in California’s beautiful state parks.
