The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape has a dense ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of black cherry fruit intermixed with a hint of licorice, smoke, earth, and a touch of underbrush. It is medium-bodied, has more noticeable tannins, and fresher acidity, giving the wine a less evolved, more structured mouthfeel. Give it 1-2 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following decade or more.

The domain got it's name in 1969 when Roger Perrin took over from his father-in-law. In 1986 he suddenly passed away, and his son Luc Perrin became the owner. At that time he had ended his oenological studies and was working at Beaucastel.
The domain covers a total of 31,3 ha.: 15,6 ha. Chateauneuf du Pape, 19,3 ha. The vines grow at 72 different parcels. The vines - especially those in Chateauneuf du Pape - are quite old - up to 100 years.
