Biography Neal Martin

    Born in the underrated vintage of 1971 in Essex, England, I only became interested in wine after I commenced working for a Far Eastern exporter where I was responsible for the win. Over ten years I specialized in Bordeaux and Burgundy and tasted intensively. I launched a website, www.wine-journal.com in June 2003 that focused on fine wines and in particular Bordeaux. It was highly successful, rapidly gaining a large following that included Robert Parker, who asked if I would consider contributing to his publication. Since 2006, Wine-Journal has continued as an independent part of his website and The Wine Advocate, for which I cover Sauternes and South Africa. Articles for Wine-Journal were short-listed for a Louis Roederer Award in 2009. Over the last couple of years I have written for Decanter, The World of Fine Wine and several lifestyle publications, contributed chapters to the 7^th edition of Parker Wine Buyers Guide, acted as a panel chair for the International Wine Challenge in London and judged wine competitions in South Africa and Australian. I am in the final stages of my first self-published book on the subject of Pomerol that is intended to be the first covering the whole of Bordeaux.
